I’m a personal injury and product liability attorney – a trial lawyer. I represent plaintiffs in personal injury and product liability matters. I don’t handle personal injury cases “also” or “in addition” to other types of cases. It’s all I do. One hundred percent of my practice is dedicated to representing individuals who have suffered serious personal injuries against large insurance companies and big corporations. I have handled personal injury cases throughout California and Texas. I have tried personal injury cases and prepared personal injury cases for trial in big cities like San Francisco, San Jose and Oakland, California, and Houston and Austin, Texas. I have also handled personal injury matters in smaller and more rural places like East Texas, Contra Costa County, California, and Marin County, California. Before I opened my offices in Palo Alto and San Francisco, I worked for a large defense firm in the East Bay as a member of its trial team. I handled catastrophic personal injury matters including complex brain injury (both traumatic and mild traumatic brain injuries), product liability, and premises liability cases for large corporations and even larger insurance carriers. This experience allows me to understand the defense perspective in every personal injury case I handle. It also gives me a unique insight that enables me to better serve my clients in serious personal injury matters. As a personal injury lawyer, I believe that it is important to represent my clients zealously and passionately, but also ethically and with empathy and humility. I also believe that as a personal injury attorney it is important for me to be involved in my community. I am active in the Palo Alto Area Bar Association, where I serve as the Chairperson for the Trial Practice Forum, as well as the Santa Clara County Bar Association, where my blog is featured on its website and Blogosphere. I am a member of the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association, the Bar Association of San Francisco, Consumer Attorneys of California, and the American Association for Justice. I have degrees from the University of Texas at Austin, and the University of Houston Law Center.
On Being Green
Litigation in general, and personal injury cases in particular, consumes far too many trees in the production of the paper that is used by attorneys. Countless reams of paper are utilized in the production and copying of medical records, financial documents, discovery, and the various reports and billing information necessary in any personal injury case. I strive every day to find and implement ways of reducing The Law Office of Brett A. Burlison's environmental footprint while better serving my clients. I maintain my files primarily in electronic format, minimize my use of paper technologies for communications, and have completely eliminated my use of facsimile all of which enables me to serve my clients more efficiently and greatly reduce the environmental impact of my law practice.
